Facebook strengthens security with partnerships
Facebook announced on Wednesday that it has launched a security page where users can download anti-malware software from several security firms. Users can download the software from McAfee, Norton, Sophos, Trend Micro, and Microsoft for free on its Anti-Virus Marketplace. The software includes Norton AntiVirus, Trend Micro Internet Security, and others, and they are available for free for six months to a year, depending on which antivirus software the user chooses to download. Facebook also announced that the five companies have agreed to give the social network its URL blacklist databases. Facebook has its own blacklist, but having the help from the security firms can help the social network block more malicious links that might be shared on the site. It said that its current backlist system scans trillions of clicks per day. "We believe that arming our users with anti-virus software will help empower them to stay safe no matter where they are on the web," the company said in a blog post. The social network
