AMD CTO Promises Full 7nm Radeon Lineup Refresh In 2019

AMD has launched a new high-end graphics card for consumers at CES 2019 in Las Vegas. It’s refreshing to see a new high-end option from AMD as it has been lagging behind NVIDIA in this segment. AMD says that its 7nm process technology-based Radeon VII card is on par with NVIDIA’s RTX 2080. Yes, it’s the first 7nm graphics chip from AMD. AMD CEO Lisa Su announced on stage at CES that the second-gen Vega architecture that this card is based on provides 25 percent more performance at the same power compared to the first-gen. It demonstrated that by running Devil May Cry 5 at 4K resolution with ultra settings and frame rates “way above 60 fps.” According to AMD, the card has a terabyte-per-second of memory bandwidth.The company didn’t have a lot of examples concerning current games but it did mention that customers will experience a 25 percent and 35 percent performance boost in Fortnite and Battlefield V respectively.
