Tesla finally opens Model 3 orders to buyers in the US and Canada

Now that the company has finally met its production target for the Model 3, its first mass-market electric sedan, it’s finally dropping the reservation system for customers in the United States and Canada. There is a catch, though, as the system isn’t going to be taking orders for the $35,000 model. Customers in North America no longer need a reservation if they want to order a Model 3. They can head over to Tesla’s website right now and place an order for the car. The catch here is that the long-promised $35,000 base model can not be ordered right now.Tesla says that it’s going to be available in “6 to 9 months.” Customers who want to place an order for one right now will have to shell out extra for the long-range battery model that starts at $49,000.
