Apple gets share of Baidu ad cash

When Apple announced iOS 6 earlier this week at WWDC, the rumor of possible Baidu integration within the OS turned out to be true. Not only Baidu, but a whole bunch of other services popular in China, such as Youku and Weibo. Now if you?re thinking that this is just a move for Apple to get more Chinese users on board the iPhone, well you?re right but as it turns out that there?s more to that story. According to Bloomberg, Apple and Baidu will be sharing advertising revenue which we guess isn?t too surprising. Apparently this is a similar deal that Baidu had struck with Google?s Android operating system and given that Baidu accounts for about 80% of the searches made in China, we can?t say that we?re too surprised. It certainly looks like everyone?s walking away a winner here. By Ubergizmo.
